First attempts at designing a C++ helper library to write #OpenMeshEffect more easily. Does this look "easy"/high-level programming to you or more like "overcomplicated stuff I'll never try to do myself"?
@jimmygunawanapp @Mrdodobird Creating #OpenMeshEffect plugins directly from Blender would be an interesting tool. It is not as straightforward because there is no such thing as the "Blender Engine" that could be embedded in a single dll to run mesh effects, but we could have a tool generate C code from nodes
@ToshiCG @Mrdodobird Yes this is why I designed an Open API - #OpenMeshEffect - in between Blender and the Houdini Engine. The Open Mesh Effect branch is fully GPL compliant and the MfxHoudini plugin is distributed separately and loaded only at runtime.

But it's not ready for use afik.
But here's why a #plugin system like #OpenMeshEffect is important: sometime people just need something to do the job for one specific prod, even though they know it would never make it to Blender's master. So #frustrating there is no way to share these dirty fixes. 3/3

Playing with some Houdini #greeble setup from within #Blender thanks to #OpenMeshEffect! Interacts nicely with other modifiers, like displace or wire :)
(The effect was designed as a SOP in #Houdini then exported as an HDA to be loaded in Blender using #MfxHoudini)
@Valerush6 Haven't shared the Houdini part yet, but once I will, the workflow will be 1. export your HDA from #Houdini 2. copy the HDA file next to #MfxHoudini.ofx (the #OpenMeshEffect plug-in dedicated to Houdini) 3. Use MfxHoudini.ofx in Blender. It'll behave like the HDA!
