You've got it utterly backwards. We believe that there is a hierarchy. The Other stands above us and imposes a strict ethical obligation on us. There's an absolute hierarchy. It's not at all a question of equality but rather the obligation one has to the other who stands over you

John 19:26–27 (ESV): Woman, behold, your son!”..... disciple, “Behold, your mother!” It is remarkable how at his worst Jesus was still focused on the welfare of others. It is possible to be going through hell yourself and still care for those around you. #Othercenteredness
