Today, on #WorldSickleCellDay, we reaffirm our commitment to improving access to quality care for people living with sickle cell disease. Through the #PENPlus Project, #CIDRZ is strengthening health systems and supporting expanded access to specialised NCD services across Zambia.
In Cameroon, the #PENPlus approach is helping bring specialized care for severe NCDs closer to communities.
For 17-year-old Jeanine, who lives with sickle cell disease, access to regular care at the PEN Plus Clinic in Mfou means fewer long journeys, better follow up and renewed hope.
With support from @WHO and partners, district hospitals are strengthening care for conditions such as sickle cell disease, type 1 diabetes and severe asthma, helping patients receive quality care closer to home.
