I didn’t show up for another Base farm. I showed up because the burn is funded by external yield, not by spending the treasury down.
What stuck: Create locks a fixed PLAZM amount you claim after the term (up to 77 days), Stake only earns pool share, and the daily pool itself shrinks 0.08% every day. Easy Mode just routes ETH or USDC into whichever of those the live quote favors.
Meanwhile buybacks have cleared $200k+ and the treasury is still near its highs, around 270 ETH. The principal stays. The burn doesn’t pause to pay for itself.
The moment that landed was reading that split out loud: more tokens can still be worth fewer dollars, and late claims get penalized. That’s the opposite of the usual ROI on the banner pitch.
Still watching the flywheel more than aping it. One year in, the engine is the story.

I found Plazm after watching a Base ecosystem thread that mentioned protocols trying to fund buybacks from something other than their own emissions.
Most of the ones I’d looked at earlier either relied on new buyers or paused the mechanism when volume dried up, so the external yield that doesn’t deplete claim was the part that made me click through.
What kept me around wasn’t the first stake. It was the AMA a few weeks later where someone asked how the treasury yield was actually routed when ETH pairs were quiet.
The answer walked through the concentrated-liquidity positions and the burn side of ESHARES without skipping the part where daily output can vary.
That was the first time the system felt less like a slogan and more like a set of moving parts I could check.The moment that still stands out was watching a small treasury buy land during a flat week. It wasn’t large, but it happened on schedule and the corresponding burn showed up on-chain the same day.
I’d seen plenty of projects talk about recurring burns; this was one of the few times I could line the announcement up with the transaction and the supply change without having to take anyone’s word for it.
I’ve learned that the generate-versus-stake choice matters more than I expected. In quieter stretches, staking kept the position compounding without needing fresh capital, while the burn side continued from the external yield rather than from new mints.

I found PLAZM while tracing a Base burn that did not match the usual pattern. Most buy and burns I had watched spent the treasury to manufacture a chart. This one was paying for the buys with external yield and leaving the principal in place.
That was the part I kept checking. Not the slogan. The treasury output crossing $200k, the stack still growing past roughly $700k and 270 ETH, daily buys and burns still printing, and more than 7 million PLAZM already gone. The engine was funding the burn without eating itself.
The moment it clicked was Easy Mode. I put ETH in on Base, read the live estimate, and saw the 77-day path instead of guessing whether to market buy, stake, or create. Collaborative Staking made the same idea social: one person brings PLAZM, another brings ETH or ESHARE, and the split is set before anyone commits. An AMA answer on staking versus market buy was the first time I could explain the difference without hand waving.
A year in, what stands out is not a price candle. It is a burn that still has a treasury behind it.

I first looked at PLAZM after seeing the claim of a perpetual real-yield setup on Base that routes external yield into recurring buy-and-burns rather than relying only on new buyers.
What stood out was the dual path in the docs: create positions (up to 77 days) that lock in a base amount plus pool emissions in stronger conditions, or stake existing PLAZM to keep earning when markets are quieter, with incoming ETH/ESHARES split toward buy-and-burn (and buy-and-build liquidity) on roughly 10-minute cycles.
The numbers that made the mechanism concrete were the tracked burns over 7 million PLAZM removed (around 26% of tracked supply) alongside treasury growth that funds the process and the later Easy Mode option that lets people start with ETH or USDC without already holding the token. Community AMAs and the emphasis on specific mechanics over pure hype were the parts that kept it on my radar past the usual DeFi noise. Still watching how the burn rate holds as emissions taper.

I actually did not come to PLAZM because someone told me to buy a token. I came across it while spending time around DeFi and started digging into what was actually happening behind the project.
What made me stay was the fact that I couldn’t understand everything in five minutes. I had to look at the Create and Stake mechanics, the way Shares work, the different participation periods, and how the system is designed around yield and supply mechanics.
That process taught me something I now carry into other DeFi projects: don’t judge a protocol from the chart or the headline alone. Read the mechanics. Understand where the rewards come from. Ask what happens when market conditions change.
I’ve also enjoyed watching the community discussions and AMAs because they gave me a better picture of what the team was building beyond the token itself.
One year of PLAZM is a reminder that a project becomes more interesting when you take the time to understand how it works instead of simply watching the price.
