It’s the 1 year anniversary of the finish to the 4 week song contest I ran.
Must do another one at some point, maybe in the new year when it’s a bit quieter.

Following a question about my ranking, the following reply shows how the 4 finalists rank in my listening.
My most played (over 15yrs) are:
1. Blue bell knoll - Cocteau Twins
2. The drowning man - The Cure
3. You tear the world in two - Pale Saints

@sharkastic Well the finalists were ranked (out of 512)
160 Atmosphere
9 How soon is now?
475 True faith
484 Teenage kicks
So, the last two on just scraped in, with relatively low number of listens.
Atmosphere was lucky as I only had two JD compilation CDs for a long time, both had it on
And if you want to hear the top 8, it’s 35 mins of quality tunes

This playlist of the 64 songs which lost in Round 3 is perhaps the playlist which is closest to my taste, although you voted these out of the competition too early.
5hrs so could listen in one go.
I’ve been forgetting my hashtag #PLsongpoll

Atmosphere was the only song going into the final that had won every group in every round.
Even How soon is now? had come 2nd in Round 2, perhaps some tactical voting at that stage.
Atmosphere’s votes across the rounds were:
100
120
205
85

Naturally the big artists dominated near the end, but I was genuinely happy with the four in the final.
It was an exceptionally close final, dead level after 2hrs and nearly 200 votes.
Atmosphere and HSIN battled it out across nearly 800 votes, and just 3% diff.

Across the last 4 weeks:
40,000+ votes
512 songs
223 artists
255 polls
28 days
From my most played songs, of more than 15 plays, but only including the top 4 from any one artist, you decided you liked Atmosphere the best.
And who can argue with that.

Before we start the Semi Finals, here is a 35 min playlist of the final 8, although I’m sure they don’t need any introduction.
Just 2 songs with a 6-0 record, although arguably the favourite isn’t one of them. Still all to play for.
