One of the more interesting small-cap industrial stories today is POCL (Pondy Oxides & Chemicals Ltd)
The lead business has largely completed its capacity expansion, taking recycling capacity above 2.1 MT and positioning the company as India's second-largest pure-play lead recycler. Management is guiding for 25–30% lead volume growth, while the integrated TKD plant could help sustain EBITDA/MT despite commodity volatility.
What stands out, however, is copper.
Copper volumes grew ~8x in FY26 from a low base, and management expects another ~80% increase in FY27, followed by a potential doubling in FY28. With new cathode capacity coming online, copper EBITDA/MT could move from ~₹35–40k currently to ₹60–70k over time.
If execution matches guidance, the earnings mix could shift meaningfully toward a higher-growth copper business while the lead segment provides cash flow stability.
At ~10.9x FY28 EV/EBITDA, the key question isn't whether the business is cheap today—it's whether the market is fully pricing in the operating leverage from the copper expansion and the sustainability of returns on capital above 25%.
