I've been thinking a lot about the attack in Israel today. Two guys. Walking through a mall. Drinks in hand. Attacked from behind. Stabbed. One died from his injuries, but not before eliminating the threat. I've seen the video. The terrorist attacking from behind. In a mall. Right beside a children's ride. It made me think of how our world has been riddled with events like this. Senseless attacks. Against Israel. Against Israelis. Against Jews. A pile bomb in 1990 that killed a 17-year old Canadian girl on a beach in Tel Aviv. A suicide bombing in Netanya during a Passover seder in 2002, killing 30 and injuring 140. A suicide bombing at a beachfront restaurant in Haifa in 2003, killing 21 people. An attack on a kosher supermarket in France in 2015, saw 4 Jewish hostages murdered. A French woman was attacked and killed in her apartment in 2017. A synagogue shooting in Philadelphia in 2018 killed 11 people and wounded six. Including Holocaust survivors. A Jewish Dentist was murdered in his office in 2024 in California. 1200 people of were murdered during a vicious massacre in Israel in 2023, shot, raped, burned alive. In their homes. At a music festival. I could go on. I could work on this post the entire day and not capture every single terror attack on Israel, Israelis and Jews that has resulted in loss of life. There’s too many. What do all of these people have in common? They’re Jews or Israelis or both. Or simply in Israel. Going about their daily lives. Practicing the religion of their choice. Doing their jobs. Living. They’re not in a war. They’re not attacking anyone. They’re not harming anyone. They’re simply existing. Jews have become targets. No. Scratch that. Jews have remained targets. Targets of those who wish to destroy us. Targets of Islam. Radicalized Islam. The Islamic Regime. The Islamofacsists. The Free Palestine movement. The Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas. Hezbollah. Houthis. Iran. And the West is empowering them. Emboldening them. Every time a Westerner joins a Free Palestine or Pro Palestine protest, you enable them. Every time a Western yells “From the River to the Sea” or “Free Palestine” or “Globalize the Intifada”, you encourage them, you energize them. And every time a Western Leader or celebrity calls for a ceasefire, or sanctions against Israel, or to stop arming Israel, or denies the atrocities of Oct 7, or of the Holocaust, you’re normalizing what these terrorists are doing. You’re giving them permission. You’re excusing them. If we want the terror to stop, if we want the spilling of blood to be no more, if we want to work on removing hate from our society, we have to stop giving it permission. We have to stop allowing it to be normalized within our worlds. And we have to be honest about where the threat and the hate is coming from. It’s not okay to hate or to be a racist. But it’s also not okay to be so afraid of being called a racist, that you allow hate to exist and for it to become normalized. It’s not Islamophobic to hold Muslims accountable for their actions. It’s not Islamophobic to name the threat to civilization. Radical Islam. But it is Islamophobic, not to.
