First Secretary Ms. Rhoda Rokotuibau ๐ซ๐ฏ delivered the Pacific Small Island Developing States (#PSIDS) statement, supported by Fijiโs PSIDS team, reaffirming the groupโs key observations during the final stage of the UN General Assembly process on the resolution seeking an International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion on climate change.
The statement highlighted the urgent and collective call from PSIDS for strengthened international legal clarity and action in response to the escalating impacts of the climate crisis on vulnerable Pacific nations.

First Secretary Ms. Rhoda Rokotuibau delivered the Pacific Small Island Developing States (#PSIDS) statement at the UN ๐บ๐ณ ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development (FFD) Follow-up.
As PSIDS Chair, Fiji ๐ซ๐ฏ conveyed the Pacific's priorities for the draft conclusions and recommendations in the upcoming consultations which include:
๐ Scaled-up climate and adaptation finance, including operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund
๐ Integration of the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI) into concessional finance frameworks
๐ฐ Enhanced debt sustainability measures for SIDS facing climate-induced debt distress
๐ฆ Durable financial corridors and stable access to the global banking system
๐ Sustained finance for ocean action and full implementation of the BBNJ Agreement

Today, Italy ๐ฎ๐น hosted a preparatory meeting for the 18th Joint Committee Cooperation Programme of gov'ments of #PSIDS and ๐ฎ๐น๐ฆ๐น๐ฑ๐บ๐ช๐ธ, which embodies the spirit of int'l cooperation embedded in the #2030Agenda and the #ABAS, the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS.
All the members of the Partnership Agreement are committed to continuing to support the PSIDS in their endeavor to effectively tackle #climatechange while promoting sustainable and inclusive development, as we have done in the past 18 years of activities, with 54 projects worth more than 23 million USD of financing.

They had a very fruitful exchange on how to further consolidate the coop. between ๐ฎ๐น and #PSIDS, a priority of ours for years, as evidenced by our financial support through @MASE_IT now amounting to $23 Mil and other initiatives to foster sustainable growth in PSIDS countries.
The Regional Preparatory Meeting on the #BBNJ Agreement ends in Palau, with Pacific delegates ready for the #PrepCom New York this #April. IUCN Oceania is proud to support the @PacOceanComm and #PSIDS in this work.
