In March 2025, representatives from Canada were in Geneva for the UN's review of Canada's commitment to the United Nations Committee of Rights for Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD)
The report that followed was highly critical.

Using stereo types & People with Addictions as political pawns to avoid providing legislative financial support is dirty politics
People with Disabilities are job creators, employers and help advance technology solutions
Any social safety net contribution entitlements provided to People with Disabilities immediately go back into Canada's Economy!!!
Therefore, any Government that leaves this group of people to suffer in poverty, in order make coercion into Medical Assisted Suicide Death easier, is unethical immoral abusive lacking of empathy, compassion and violates basic dignity and goes against Canada's legendary Human Rights Values

I think it's worthwhile looking at a couple of things: UN and discussion re CDB.
Let's not forget: everyone except the Cons has now agreed that people on ODSP need their benefits doubled at a minimum.
We need to make this happen. All of you know I am not joking - very far from joking - when I say lives are at stake.
I knew this was going to happen and it still hit me like a truck. I've been in tears since 9 pm. I couldn't even attend my own Space and accidentally shut it down twice because I was such a wreck. 😱
BECAUSE THINGS ARE SO TERRIBLY HORRIBLY DIRE.
We need your help. Disabled people need your help. They CANNOT EXIST like this anymore. It is INHUMAN. The things I see and hear about and read - they are DEVASTATING and this cannot wait any longer. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE.
We've all acknowledged it.
Now we MUST make it happen. Immediately. I can't express how devastating this outcome is for disabled people. Their suffering is real, it is intense, and it is UNNECESSARY. It needs to end.
This legislation MUST HAPPEN. Or we are going to see some terrible tragedies happen. I personally can't bear to lose any more people.
This increase must happen. People need money NOW. Urgently. They CANNOT FEED THEMSELVES OT THEIR CHILDREN ANYMORE. They can't pay bills. They can't make rent. Tgey can't pay for meds, more and more of which they must pay for every Mo nth.
We also need make sure we capitalize on this moment to organize and put things aside and come together and make asks and demands of governments for the good of the community, and get ready for the federal election.
I don't know what is already underway in terms of community organization for this if anything, but we need to move quickly toward getting funds into bank accounts ASAP.
Doug Ford says he'll help people who genuinely need it, well, $1368 a month more is what they need. At a minimum. We plan to invite him to visit some of the folks in our community at their homes. So he can see.
