@thecam1966 Would go round the electrical eng side most probably, although, from what I can see, both mechanical and electrical are pretty barren when it comes to railways.
Was hoping #PWayBook would appear (and go to print) before I graduated so I could submit the request for that :(
Well, I teased the #PWayBook a year ago and am happy to report that I've no idea where it's at...
There are around a hundred pages in there at this point, but whether the First Edition will be ready for download by the end of the year is another matter! Thanks 2020!

I'd like to announce that the first edition of "The Permanent Way Design Companion" should be available for download next year! #PWayBook
This is why the #PWayBook is not going to cover every iteration of every crossing or component in existence - it would be impossible!

@driverbod125 Ha! I'm afraid it isn't going to be a track materials encyclopedia at this stage... It is more about explaining why things are generally the way they are.

This is not going to happen overnight, but I'll endeavour to keep you all in the loop - follow #PWayBook for updates.
In the meantime, all comments are welcome!
Nothing out there provides entry-level knowledge alongside the more detailed information about permanent way systems and the engineering behind them. There's also a lot of design knowledge that just isn't written down at all.
It is my hope that the #PWayBook will fill this gap!
