Once again, I went to the floor of the Senate to call for a vote to #PassMJIIPA. Once again, I was blocked — despite having the support of a majority of Congress. But I will not stop fighting until service members have the truly independent military justice system they deserve.

@gillibrandny You forgot to mention that Congress must #PassMJIIPA because there is "epidemic of sexual assault" since US troops supposedly commit 20,500 sexual assaults every year. If true, that would be 56 a day. Every day. 365 days a year. Tell us more. https://t.co/OI7sBJb7xn

If we truly want to help survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, we have to acknowledge that those crimes don’t happen in a vacuum. That's why we need to #PassMJIIPA and move ALL serious crimes out of the chain of command and into the hands of trained prosecutors.

When I asked for a vote on our bipartisan military justice reform, I was told to wait and trust that the will of the majority would be respected. But behind closed doors, they gutted our bill. No more waiting. I'm heading to the floor now to call for a full vote to #PassMJIIPA.
