Q5 - It is harder to start when you do not have that personal contact with people. Definitely messaging people you may not have met out of the blue. It takes getting used to, and some adjustments to made on your side. #perconachat

Use Zoom video whenever possible to get as much non-verbal feedback as possible. Cut short lengthy text chats with a quick call – you can cover much more info quickly than prolonged chats back and forth.
@Percona Have regular meetings with your team members. Focus on positive and constructive messaging. Dare to call people. After working remotely for over 6 years it has become second nature, and if not, well you can still have a conversation with your cat! #perconachat
@d1farar Context switching can be a challenge to overcome, when focus time is needed, put on some music and try and tackle that task you've not be able to get too #perconachat
I love working remote. I do think the pace can be faster when everyone is remote. The constant and various streams of communication can interrupt and require context switching. I do find it important to set time apart on my calendar for things. #PerconaChat
Q4 - I do not have the ability to seclude myself at home. I am out in shared space. I have a cool "gaming desk" that I find perfect for my needs. I also have several other personal objects displayed to make it "my space". It's the personal touches for sure. #PerconaChat
@PerconaSecurity I went to the barbershop once every two years ago. Colleagues gave me a $100 certificate. They thought I'd shave, but I just brushed my hair and beard. They were very upset, and I laughed for a long time. That was the most expensive brushing I ever had. #perconachat
Q5: this is my first job #remoteworking after 18 years commuting to London every day! It's truly wonderful. Love the flexibility and the positive attitude of my remote co-workers. It's also a real joy when we get those occasional meet-ups in person! #PerconaChat

@PerconaJobs @Percona No, though I've worked at @Percona for more than 7 years, so am used to remote meetings, working with instant messages, email etc as a matter of course. It is an adjustment to work form home, it's not going to come naturally, it can be more challenging. #perconachat
