Yesterday hit different.
I was honored to be Guest of Honor at the launch of @NguvuNation’s Clean Futures, Plastic for Purpose with @QueenAkidi.
Met teenage mothers from Karamoja a place I am proud to call home, who carry both the weight of motherhood and the fire of big dreams.
We listened. We toured the site for their new bathroom, that will be built from recycled materials.
A small structure but huge for privacy, hygiene and safety. I have visited Katwe kinyolo very many times and I am confident that this will make a big difference in the lives of the community most importantly the teenage mothers.
For anyone out there who would want to equip these teenage mothers with skills,Mentorship or anything that would help them as they transition into motherhood please reach out.
It was nice meeting you @Jannie_jennah.
TEENAGE PREGNANCY
Earlier today, I attended the launch of Nguvu Nation’s Clean Futures: Plastic for Purpose campaign together with the President of Ugandans on X @GiftGrace01 and other partners. Organised by @QueenAkidi
We spent time with teenage pregnant mothers from Karamoja the Katwe slums. Listened to them, visited the site where their new bathroom facility will be constructed, and witnessed the official launch. The facility will be built using recycled materials, addressing a very basic need for privacy, hygiene, dignity, and safety.
Honestly, the experience touched me deeply. Sometimes, if you ever feel ungrateful about life, go into communities like these, hospitals, or places where people are facing challenges you may never have imagined. It reminds you to appreciate what you have.
But beyond feeling touched, I also saw potential. These girls need more than material support. There is room for mentorship, guidance, skills, confidence-building and opportunities that can help them see a different future for themselves through @GITA_Africa
A BATHROOM FOR TEENAGE MOTHERS
Today, our General Secretary, @QueenAkidi under @NguvuNation, together with its partners. Officially launched the "Clean Futures: Plastic for Purpose" campaign to construct a safe and hygienic bathroom facility for teenage mothers in the Katwe community, including young mothers from Karamoja.
The initiative addresses a basic but critical need for privacy, dignity, hygiene, and safety, while using recycled plastic materials to promote environmental sustainability.
We were represented by our Chairperson, @Jannie_jennah, as we joined the teenage mothers, visited the construction site, and witnessed the official launch. The mothers also received maternity essentials and financial support.
