(1/n) Generally, interviewers want to know: A: that you can talk about science in an accurate and succinct way, B: that you did in fact do the research that you said you did on your application, and C: that you understand how your work fits into the broader context of astronomy.

#PhDprotip : Buy a new computer in the middle of your PhD, so when you get to the phase when it really matters (i. e. the end), you won't go crazy over an old, crashing and super slow machine.

#PhDProTip: Don't save your thesis with names like "thesisfinal". Because this inevitably leads to "thesisfinalfinal", "thesisactualfinal" and "thesisfinalforreal", and the accidental upload of the one where you forgot to fill in the *ADD DUMB KING PAPER HERE* reference. #PhDLife
