I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, so I finally sat down & wrote a Basic interpreter for #P64. Started playing around with Antlr so I can add support for more languages over time. I’m calling this PixelBasic since I had to customize it to run in #PixelVision8 #gamedev

One step closer to getting #PixelVision8 games running in the browser again. I made some improvements to the new CLI, called #P64, and once I get this cleaned up, I think I’ll finally be able to release this by the end of week! #gamedev
Looks like #PixelVision8 works on the web again. Finally got Unity to do a WebGL build running the latest code I plan on releasing as part of the new CLI. Still a few more things to implement, like controls & sound, but assuming everything keeps working, this is looking good!
Finally migrated #PixelVision8’s Loading & Error screens over to #P64. Debating adding the boot animation in next. The loader also knows what language you are loading a game in which is useful for when you have both C# and Lua code in the same project like the examples. #GameDev
I’m getting ready to release a new CLI for making #PixelVision8 games. This is a big departure from how things used to work in the past. Right now I’m calling it #P64. Thinking of releasing it as is to avoid confusion. Curious what people think I should do for this next release:

This new #PixelVision8 memory map is starting to shape up. Still cleaning up a few things but each chip now registers its memory allocation and I am starting to track the total memory. Hard to keep memory low with support for 256 colors per pixel. #screenshotsaturday
Ok, think I found a fix so the latest build of #PixelVision8 boots again on Win and Mac. Still need to test on Linux. Had to remove single app build but I’ll get that working again tomorrow. Thought I found a fix on Win to not have the command prompt visible but it’s still there.
And we’re back! GitHub actions are a total black box. I never get them right on the first try. So don’t freak out, #PixelVision8 v2 doesn’t have the tools built in anymore so I can speed up development. Give me a week or 2 & I’ll sort out all the little inconsistencies. #gamedev
Here goes a years worth of work on #PixelVision8. Just pushed everything to GitHub and going to make sure the build scripts work correctly. I expect there to be some frantic changes over the next hour or two. Best if you don’t try to check anything out right now :) #gamedev
Going to push all the other #PixelVision8 code to GitHub over the next few days. There’s a lot to share including some new docs and APIs. It’s going to be a bit jarring until I can get everything out and release the new tutorials and example games.

While cleaning up #SpaceStationEight I decided to build simple menu system to manage switching between different scenes. My goal is to have a set of tutorials that walk through making an entire game in #PixelVision8. Not many tutorials focus on game #UX so I made this. #gamdev
