Today's #PoemsDescriptive2020 is another experiment in elegy, Clare's 'On an Infant's Grave'. Clare himself was born one of twins; his sister, Bessey, died in infancy. He would go on to lose two children in infancy and outlived three of his surviving children.
It's a short poem for today's #PoemsDescriptive2020: Clare's 'On Beauty'. I love the craft and complexity that sit behind apparent simplicity in this one.
