I'm happy to see this.
I always lacked the ability to stop execution of \watch loops in psql. Proposed this idea for our live coding on #PostgresTV, @x4mmmmmm implemented (https://t.co/t03Fgy8HQh), it was committed to PG16.
The implementation was flexible -- any option is possible to add later. And here we see it, for PG17 🆒👍
