Assumption of Command | Project Beacon
On 20 Aug 2026, Brig S Deepak assumed command as Chief Engineer, Project Beacon, taking over from Brig Chirag Ghura, who completed two years of dedicated service.
Project Beacon is responsible for maintaining strategic road connectivity across the snow-clad terrain of the Kashmir Valley, ensuring all-weather mobility and operational readiness in vital sectors.
Brig S Deepak reaffirmed his resolve to carry forward the proud legacy of Project Beacon and further strengthen BRO’s commitment to quality infrastructure and seamless connectivity, guided by the ethos “श्रमेण सर्वं साध्यम्” (Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam).

Teams of 122 RCC, 32 BRTF, #ProjectBEACON worked through the night, braving treacherous conditions to restore connectivity in just 5 hours. ⚒️

Col Sphurti Kulkarni assumed command of 45 Task Force, Project Chetak on 30 Jul 2026, becoming the first woman officer to command the Task Force responsible for strategic connectivity along the western frontier.
Earlier, Col Shikha Bhadauria assumed command of 32 BRTF, Project BEACON on 30 Apr 2026, leading a formation that ensures strategic road connectivity in North Kashmir, including support for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
