We have a nature play focus this term. Before working with real tools for our outdoor classroom build, we practiced risk taking by using whittling knives. Ss created stick tools and toys to decorate. Lots of fun, lots of focus!

School Governing Council approved funding for our big 2020 transformations, now we work!
We will create a โhideawayโ space for younger students, dedicated garden beds, a Japanese garden, forest play EVERY break, & a โlearning streetโ breakout space.

Today, students used @AdobeSpark to create basic information posters for our @learnometer which measures lux; temperature; CO2; VOCs; fine dust; noise and humidity. Each class will get a set as the Learnometer travels around.

Our latest transformation was our โmeetingโ out room which weโve converted into a theatre and quiet space for large group learning. Lots of writeable surfaces for Ss, including the windows when using chalk pens.

Our classroom environment is one giant prototyping experiment ATM. So lucky to have a leader who trusts us to bring this transformation to life. 18 months in, he has managed to โget to yesโ on every #ProjectReimaginate proposal weโve thrown out there!

Transforming school doesn't need big $$$. It requires time, effort, empathy, & a deep understanding of the needs of the community. The pictures don't do the learning justice, but this is what a $3K spend at our school looks like. #ProjectReimaginate

Imagine creating time & space within the curriculum for Ss to actually identify and solve real problems within their community. I mean action change, not just endlessly discuss it. Most Ts I know have the power to make that change, they don't need more $, they need more bravery.
Last day of term with Ss today. Not sure when we will be face-to-face again. We spent plenty of time outside this week, working on the idea of marginal gains, that each small action contributes to the long term enrichment of our school.

Got our @learnometer in the mail yesterday. Ss are ready to start collecting, interpreting and responding to the data to prototype diverse learning spaces within our open plan units.

Last year, less than 1% of our students were riding bikes or scooters to school. Research suggested we needed a safe, dry parking bay so we found an unused space and converted it. We might need a bigger parking bay!
