#ProtectMaputo Protocol: #ProtectWomen's Protocol 💪 The #EasternSRHRCoalition Members reviewed the Draft African Charter on Family, Sovereignty and Values and expressed concern about its provisions that undermine and seek to roll back the gains made under the #MaputoProtocol, particularly Article 14, which protects women’s and girls’ Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights #SRHR. The Coalition considers the Draft Charter to be regressive and repressive, as it threatens to undermine significant progress made in advancing #GenderEquality, women’s rights, #bodilyautonomy, and access to sexual and reproductive health services. Following the review, Coalition members committed to take collective and strategic action to safeguard the gains achieved under the Maputo Protocol. The Coalition will also advocate for the Government of Uganda not to ratify the Draft African Charter and will engage relevant stakeholders to raise awareness about its potential implications for women’s and girls’ rights. @GlobalFundWomen @mamacash @themamanetwork @CentreforWomen2 @CSMMUA_ @amplifyfund @amwaafrika @wougnet @Fos_Feminista @cehurduganda @hivosroea
