Submissions made to the @ctfsl contribute to a rich dialogue on the issue of Amnesties. Are @RW_UNP and @pcranawaka interested in what people had to say on the topic? #pubconsl #lka
@awkana_sanjeewa @ompsrilanka While the CTF did #pubconsl, this wasn’t based on the bill. Now that there is a bill, there needs to be sufficient time to go back to the communities for their meaningful input. Consultations at this stage is crucial to get it right or you risk widening the trust deficit.
Hope the sentiments & recommendations in @ctfsl #pubconsl is considered in the law establishing it + operation. Crucially, affected persons will resist a compensation-only approach if a holistic, truth and justice inclusive approach isn’t adopted. #lka #transitionaljustice https://t.co/2BvPT3NE3p
Cabinet nod to set up 'Reparation Office' https://t.co/I0GgRfF5yS
Recall this sentiment from @ctfsl #pubconsl: that #transitionaljustice initiatives shouldn’t be another way for Colombo CSOs and lawyers to make money. Victim and affected persons must be a central in the processes. #repaconf #lka
The @ctfsl report in fact spoke of the lack of outreach and awareness on #TransitionalJustice that the State is best placed to do. Civil society reach- however well intentioned- is limited. #lka #RepaConf #pubconsl https://t.co/ZRpVPBsBU8
In fact, #pubconsl overwhelmingly demanded reconciliation mechanisms to be very different from past Presidential Commisions of Inquiry- just read the chapter on the proposed Truth Commission. #lka @ctfsl @HarshadeSilvaMP #UPR28 https://t.co/rGrgImc0XT
.@HarshadeSilvaMP "The reconciliation mechs will draw on Presidential Commissions of the past, incl the LLRC [paraphrasing]". NO mention of ground-breaking @ctfsl rpt - product of largest and most credible exercise to date asking war affected ppl what is needed for reconciliation
Great to show a consultative front but what's @officialscrmsl done with #pubconsl views in @ctf report so far? #lka https://t.co/VMkzGHymRA
