People outside the disability community and even within aren't able to fully grasp the scope of what has happened with the Canada disability benefit. The work of the advocacy, the time put in by countless individuals and organizations, putting their reputations at stakes.
This is a MAJOR, MAJOR scandal.
Here's what is going through my head,
How many conversations were put forward by NGOs, by advocates, that listened to the liberal Lie that gave people hope, That assured concerned parents, suicidal individuals, disabled people living in violent situations who can't flee, people facing eviction, people with the maid application printed out on their desks, people who are malnourished, people living with bed bugs and cockroaches, people with overlapping clusterfucks of poverty induced hellish situations, for fuck sakes. The Lie that assured all of us desperate souls. Help is on the way, that the CDB is going to be a truly historic thing, the help you've been waiting for.
We heard the same rhetoric over and over, NO DERB because we have to get it right, NO money, oh no, no because we have to get it right, Government is working really hard and doing all of this in the spirit of nothing about us without us. These are the kinds of bullshit, empty statements that were given to us again and again. The assurances made by the government time and again that they were working on it, that they had to get it right.
Then, when it finally comes time for something concrete, We are given a mountain to climb before we can even access the benefit, that mountain is called the disability tax credit, Which you ghouls. @JustinTrudeau @cafreeland, know is impossible to get. You cannot deny it, you cannot say you didn't know. EVERYTHING IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND RECORDED. I remember hearing and reading the testimony of people with the greatest fucking emphasis, and frustration including my own that YOU DO NOT USE the disability tax credit. As the gateway to the CDB. On top of that, to pour salt into our wounds, you make the amount of the benefit money equal to the worth you see of people with disabilities.
There is zero excuse for this, the money exists, you chose to prioritize your corporate donors over the lives of disabled people. FUCK you for eternity. You have sentenced us to death, to malnutrition, to homelessness, to lifelong irreversible trauma that will be seen and ripple throughout Canadian society.
The demand.

Meaning No DTC as the gateway to the benefit.

Just to give people an idea of how difficult the DTC is to qualify for: I have a permanent medical disability so I am guaranteed access to ODSP, no review necessary ever, but my doctor said I'd have no chance.
