Here is a radar animation of the deep #pyroCu from yesterday's RX burn on Farmington Bay of the Great Salt Lake. You can see both the first deep plume pulse, the lake breeze move the plume inland, then an storm outflow hit the plume at the end (pushing it back west).

It's hard to put into words just how extreme the heatwave coming to California and the Western US is going to be. This truly ranks among the most extraordinary heatwaves the United States has ever seen.
One perfect example: Palm Springs is forecast to hit 111°F next Friday. That would smash the US record high for the month of March by 3 degrees. It would also be 7 degrees warmer than any other March day Palm Springs has ever seen.
Head a little farther south into Coachella Valley, and the town of Thermal is forecast to reach 113°F, which would tie the record for the hottest temperature ever recorded in the US in April. And this would happen on March 20th. Thermal's hottest March day on record is 103°F. Breaking a monthly record by 10 degrees is virtually unheard of.
I could go on and on with statistics about how absurd this event is, but this heatwave is the word "unprecedented" at its most literal.
#GarnetFire yielding deepening #pyroCu and edging toward #pyroCb. Its updraft also appears to be perturbing the upper level flow with a persistent cloud lens forming aloft, which is then perforated by the plume at the end of the loop.
There is a decent chance the #GarnetFire will produce a #pyroCb today. The well-established fire burning in forest fuels has been active through the night, is already producing a modest plume and #pyroCu, and there is an influx of mid-level moisture. The "inverted-V" profile ( shown below) often provides surface conditions conducive to active fire growth, while the mid-levels support "tall-skinny" CAPE allowing moist convection.
There is also a gap in the broader cloud cover over the region that should help get things cooking (better surface mixing) through the mid morning, setting the stage for deeper convection by mid-day.

When it comes to #bcwildfire #wildfire, we use a 30/30/30 rule. It is in kilometers & celcius, but anything above 30 celcius & 30 km winds with less than 30% humidity can increase fire activity so much it can create it own thundstorms starting more fires #pyroCu #Pyrocumulus

That's a normal forest fire height and they can be many kms wide, depending on fuels and terrain.
Fires produce their own weather when they get big. It's called Pyrocumulus.
