Thierry 'A question the Home Office asks is 'how are you living your life as a gay person in Glasgow', very difficult to answer. When you start in a new country where you don't know anyone it's hard to go out / have the tools to find a group/community to help you' #QueerLineage

Dean's drag character is also called The Black Flamingo, inspired by a real flamingo when visiting family in Cyrpus 'a whole lake of pink flamingos with one black flamingo... it made me think of all the times I stood out as a Black person in very white queer spaces' #QueerLineage

'We make assumptions about who is straight.. advocate for not forcing people to come out, not making being out the benchmark of success as a queer person. In the Black queer community many people who go back to other spaces where there's lack of safety in being out' #QueerLineage

Dean: 'Yes (there were Deaf queer people). In London, there's spaces for everyone. Had experiences at events where we've booked a BSL interpreter, but not done the outreach to get Deaf queer audience members - you can't just do the access without doing the outreach' #QueerLineage

On coming out, 'In some cultures there's more of a taking in.' 'Coming out isn't linear... going back to what panellists said, people who've been there all along but now seeing them for who they are. Part of not understanding them was not understanding ourselves.' #QueerLineage
