Haven't done a @QwikDev tips or #QwikTips for a while now... (yeah I know hashtags are for boomers😅) But here's a new one 👇

Good observation, but I'd like to clarify a few points: 1. Most of the APIs in Qwik come with a $ suffix buit-in, so it's not a decision point for the devs to make. 2. The only place developers need actively wrap with a $() is custom function. 3. The $ are primarily used in the compilation step (for the optimizer to know how to auto-extract the closures). 4. Only as a last step - it also signals to the developers that everything wrapped with a $ is a different file (not environment). But at the end of the day, if you get something wrong, the compiler (and linter) will show you a nice message and how to fix it, and after a few of those it'll become second nature. At least this was my experience when I first got into @QwikDev .

I saw a @QwikDev lecture recently where the speaker said you need to add a $ sign to all of the framework functions like "component$" Important correction - you don't have to "add" it, it's already part of the function's name i.e. you cannot import just a "component" #qwikTips

Different from "server components" or "client components" ... @QwikDev components can start their life either on the server or on the client... with same code! So I'm thinking about calling them "Nomad Components"... 😅 WDYT? Makes sense? #qwikTips #qwik

Today's @QwikDev tip: Alongside SSR, Qwik(City) can also do Static Site Generation of html files. It uses the same #Qwik renderer - meaning all unused client JS (non reactive components etc) could be removed and not shipped. Extreme Tree Shaking! 🤯💪🚀 #qwikTips

💡 Today's @QwikDev tip: Qwik components usually start their execution on the server and then continue on the browser. This means that code used for bootstraping the component (like fetching initial data) won't be shipped if #qwik identifies it won't be needed later #qwikTips

Then Qwik preserves the app (and FW) state created on SSR by taking a "snapshot" and adds it to the rendered html as well. Once it gets to the browser, a service worker starts to prefetch those chunks to have them ready in the cache (forgot to tag #qwikTips, let's continue 👇)

Today's @QwikDev tip: Qwik runs in 3 places 👇 1️⃣ BUILD: breaks everything into tiny chunks 2️⃣ SERVER: render the page and remove unnecessary JS (that will never execute anyway) and point to the pre-built chunks 3️⃣ CLIENT: prefetch and lazy execute chunks on demand #qwikTips

@dan_abramov @0xafz This drawing is not totally accurate. It's missing the prefetching via a service worker. But yeah, resumability (in @QwikDev for example) doesn't suffer from latency on interaction because we moved long time ago from lazy loading to "lazy execution" by utilizing prefetching.

Today's @QwikDev tip: Every time you see a $ sign it means - the following callback function will be extracted into a separate file that'll be automatically lazy loaded when required. You don't need to remember to add these $ signs, they are part of the built-in API. #QwikTips
