In response to Somalia's ongoing cholera crisis, which affected 30 districts with 17,000 cases and 139 deaths in 2024, the Somali Red Crescent (#BishaCas) has partnered with #RCRCMovement, non-Movement actors and public authorities to develop a Simplified Early Action Protocol (#sEAP). This protocol, designed for cholera preparedness and response in priority areas, was presented during a dissemination session in #Garowe on June 25-26, 2025.
The session focused on enhancing stakeholder understanding of the sEAP's content, objectives, and implementation strategy while defining key roles and responsibilities.
We have delivered 44'000 sandbags to riverine areas in Jowhar & Mahaday to help reinforce riverbanks following flooding along the Shabelle River. More than 72'000 people stand to benefit.

A two-day workshop examining the lessons learned from the #ECHO Pilot Programmatic Partnership (#PPP) concluded today in Nairobi. The workshop, held from June 9-10, 2025, convened #RCRCMovement Partners to evaluate the implementation progress and develop sustainable programming strategies beyond the current project timeline.
The gathering brought together representatives from the Finnish Red Cross, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Danish Red Cross, Norwegian Red Cross, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), all of whom operate in partnership with the Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS). Participants engaged in comprehensive discussions to reflect on the implementation experiences and chart a strategic path forward.
The project demonstrated significant success across various programmatic areas, indicating strong operational effectiveness and positive impact on intended beneficiaries.
