Strong words from @CThompsonAFPM: "It’s baffling, with fuel prices already rising due to the conflict in Iran, that EPA is finalizing a rule that will make things far worse for consumers. The RFS already costs nearly 25-cents per gallon, and today’s rule will undoubtedly add tens of billions more. This is not what energy dominance looks like.”
8. I know I repeat myself, but this is the first time I can recall in the #RFSwars when ag and oil are squarely on the same side politically. Hard to believe this combination could not get what they wanted out of the Biden Admin.

6. What is so interesting to me about this front in the #RFSwars is that the interests of ag and oil are the same. Both want higher RVOs for D4/D5 pool. Ag for feedstock demand and oil for RD demand for all the billions of new investments. This is something new.
4. Consequently, the behind the scenes lobbying (always intense in the #RFSwars) has to have focused on ways to get the total RVO increased for 23-25. First target: kill the eRINs program and slide that implied RVO from the D3 to the D4/D5 pool.
This is a major scoop in the #RFSwars @StephanieKellyM! The news last week of a possible legal challenge to the eRINs proposal made me wonder what might follow.
SCOOP: The Biden administration could delay a decision on giving EV manufacturers tradable credits under a renewable fuel scheme, due to concern about legal challenges to the plan, two sources tell me and @JarrettRenshaw

1. Another fascinating front in the #RFSwars is opening in the debt ceiling battle in DC. Iowa lawmakers were holding up approval on the Republican side due to provisions in the House bill to scale back subsidies that were passed last summer in the IRA. https://t.co/JjZEHRz3I4
Several new fronts opening in the #RFSwars. I wondered when the legal challenge from the ag side to the proposed eRIN program would happen. Looks like it is well on its way.
A group of federal lawmakers is raising questions about the legality of @EPA's proposal to create a so-called electricity #renewable identification numbers, or eRINs, program in the Renewable #Fuel Standard.

@OPISBiofuels 4. What I will be following extremely closely is the comments from the crude oil side of the #RFSwars. A few years ago, this type of proposal would have set-off a war cry from the refining side. Now that they all have some kind of stake in renewable diesel, we sill see.
1. #RFSwars just keep getting weirder and weirder. Guess that fits with the times. @OPISBiofuels reporting "EPA Revokes 31 SREs for 2018 RFS Compliance Year, Denies Five More" This sounds like a real blow for the crude oil refiners until you read the fine print.
2. The main target of the calls to waive RFS mandates is ethanol. New front in the #RFSwars. I only need one chart to prove that waiving RFS conventional ethanol mandate will not reduce ethanol use more than a minimal amount.
1. Headline this morning on the #RFSwars "EPA Administrator Issues Warning: Agriculture And Big Oil May Not Be Happy With Impending RFS Announcement" https://t.co/I115VnXF0l
1. Messed up. Have to start thread over! Extremely interesting Reuters article this morning about the latest front in the #RFSwars in DC. Basically, some refiners are playing a very big game of chicken with the Biden EPA on RIN liabilities. https://t.co/lk7Cgz94tX
1. Further confirmation that the leaked RVO numbers last week were real. This is quite a statement even considering how ferocious past battles in the #RFSwars have been.
7. #grassleyrule under real stress right now in the #RFSwars. Personally, I am truly stunned that the Biden Admin would go down this road on the RFS. As I said before, they must really, really, really hate corn farmers.
1. This week in Ag Data News, the #RFSwars.
The oil and corn lobbies have been fighting for years over how much biofuel should be mixed in with our gasoline and diesel. Did oil just get a win?

@OPISBiofuels reporting ***EPA Aims to Propose Post-2022 RFS Blending Volumes by December. This is what I call the Big Reset for the RFS. The Big Enchilada in terms of the long-term future of the RFS. Will be a major new front in the #RFSwars. Lawsuits sure to follow.
2. Depending on what happens with SREs, this appears to me to be a big victory for ag in the #RFSwars. Oil refiners have been lobbying furiously for a rollback of the RFS mandates due to COVID. Not going to happen based on this reporting.
@OPISBiofuels reporting that on Friday SCOTUS agreed to review the 10th Circuit's order limiting SREs under the RFS. Gotta say that this surprised me. We now have the #RFSwars reaching all the way the US Supreme Court! So no clarity on RFS implementation until SCOTUS rules.
2. The #RFSwars will go on, but this cannot be spun any way but a major political defeat for the oil refining interests as a whole. Now will Trump come threw with cash compensation for small refiners? My guess is the answer is yes.
1. Reuters is reporting this morning that DJT has instructed the EPA to deny retroactive SRE waivers due "to concerns the issue could cut into his support in the Farm Belt, three sources familiar with the decision said" Big development in the #RFSwars if confirmed
