Stuart Adamson understood this, along with so much more. Through years of words and music he crafted a story that was nothing less than timeless. A tale filled with mystery and magic, where truth is fierce and paramount. Where hope is indomitable, even in the darkest of moments. He and every member of his band were the absolute best at what they did in the era in which they did it, yet they remain terribly, criminally underappreciated to this day. There's lots of good, even indisputably great music out there in the world, but Stuart Adamson and Big Country were always different. And herein lies that difference: whatever business sound & lyrics have of possessing more life force than anything that isn't actually alive in the literal sense should ever have, Stuart found that power and gave it to his music. It's hard to explain and I don't really expect anyone to believe me, but I know what I know and so I'll stick to the simplest of truths ... It's alive. Except it isn't. But it is. There's something inside the sound itself, a rare and unquantifiable essence that defies description. I don't know how and I don't know why, but this magnificent & wondrous body of work is a roadmap to changing the world for the better, one heart at a time.
