There's lots of good, even indisputably great music out there in the world, but Stuart Adamson and Big Country were always different. And herein lies that difference: whatever business sound & lyrics have of possessing more life force than anything that isn't actually alive in the literal sense should ever have, Stuart found that power and gave it to his music. It's hard to explain and I don't really expect anyone to believe me, but I know what I know and so I'll stick to the simplest of truths ... It's alive. Except it isn't. But it is. There's something inside the sound itself, a rare and unquantifiable essence that defies description.
