I'm looking for examples simple multilevel models [e.g., y ~ 1 + x + (1 + x | group) in lme4 syntax] coded in Stan/rstan/cmdstanr. Good clean code, the kind you'd recommend for learning. Centered and non-centered parameterization are welcome. #RStats #rstan

Relative to my other ebooks, the code and content are sparse. I think #rstan is more advanced than #brms, and therefore I’m presuming a more advanced readership who need less exposition than my usual target audience. The figures and so on are also more streamlined. 2/5

When you define the number of rows in your data in a Stan `data` block, do you set the lower limit to `0` or to `1`? I've seen smart people do it either way. Tell me why or why not. #rstan @mcmc_stan

Don't sweep uncertainty under the rug. Quantify it! The more I build Bayesian models, the more I wonder why anybody would be frequentest anymore. With tools like #mcmc_stan, #rstan, #psytan, etc. things are now really easy (In grad school, we had to code these things from scratch)

If you are new to using #rstan and have difficulties with getting chains to converge in complex models, take your time to understand certain steps in #HMC sampling and how they are affected by HMC algorithm parameters. It‘s gonna save you time and sweat.
