Pappu is being quite sinister here. First of all, notice he is speaking in English, so that international media can use it to say India’s electoral process is disputed and thus democracy compromised. CJI was never part of the process of choosing CEC ever. In Congress era, CEC was elected by the ruling party (union govt basically) and now it’s by a committee where Pappu is a member, albeit in minority. He also asks “why is Election Commission being allowed to ‘destroy’ CCTV footage after 45 days?” Quintessential Pappu. No data, that too something like CCTV – mind you, for each and every booth – can be stored forever. If not 45, it will be 90 days or at best 6 months, beyond which rarely any entity is supposed to retain data. Does Pappu never deletes his email or items from phone gallery? Is he trying to ‘destroy’ something? He also talks about law that gave CEC impunity for actions while in office. It was done because Pappu was threatening to take ‘revenge’ if INDI wins 2024 elections. CECs have not been made unaccountable; they can still be punished by the parliament for any wrongdoings. Then he follows it up with usual nonsense about Haryana vote chori allegations, all of which were found to be untrue or spiced up. And finally, after a long time, he even casts doubt on EVMs too, something that has been proved a ridiculous assertions multiple times, so ridiculous that Pappu himself had given up on that and focused only on ‘vote chori’ by showing data entry errors in electoral rolls.
