During this phase, price movement becomes limited, volatility decreases, and the stock appears to be moving sideways. This indicates that buying and selling pressure are gradually coming into balance, often leading to a buildup of energy for the next major move. ✍️What is Range Expansion? Range Expansion begins when the stock breaks out of its contraction zone and starts moving aggressively in one direction. This move is usually accompanied by a significant increase in volume and momentum. After a successful breakout, the stock may quickly gain 8%, 10%, or even more within a short period. ✍️Example: Suppose a stock has been trading sideways for several weeks, showing very little price movement. This phase is known as Range Contraction. After some time, strong buying interest enters the stock, volume increases sharply, and the price breaks out of the consolidation zone.
