Spelling bee competition for Alexandra primary schools.
After a very successful inaugural spelling bee competition in 2024. Read Alex brings you an even bigger competition in 2025.
The 2025 competition will see 7 Alexandra Primary Schools participating in the 5 grades (grade 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) competion over 2 weekends.
The first session for Grades 3, 4 and 5 will be held on Saturday 23 August 2025. A second group of grade 3s will join the grades 6 and 7 for the second session on 30 August 2025.
"We received overwhelming support for our grade 4 and 6 competition in 2024. We had no option but to grow the competion and get more children in the community reading." said Samukelisiwe Nhlabathi, Head of Read Alex.
Busamed Modderfontein Hospital Supports the event and will be catering for all participants.
Alexandra Museum will again host both events, that will start at 08H30 and ends at 13H00.
Alex FM is on board again as the event's media partner.

Read Alex is a reading program that aims to inspire a love of reading in children. The program is looking for volunteers to assist with teaching and mentoring. By donating your time, you can make a difference one book at a time.

Attend the Program - We invite you to participate in our reading program where we help young children discover the joy of books and build essential reading skills.
