Gratefully I survived a sudden-death episode flatline cardiac arrest caused by myocarditis (at age 29), then (at age 53) a high-risk and then-new high-tech surgical procedure to stop a suddenly ruptured and badly hemorrhaging cerebral aneurysm, followed—36 hours later—by a debilitating major stroke. These are separate yet related experiences with near-death survival.
Yes, survival and gratitude are on my mind and heart. Yours?
Preference for #HumanFlourishing—instead of languishing and prolonged suffering—needs to be stated. “I’ll just do it” and “I will do it” are among phrases recovering survivors use to facilitate flourishing following a destabilizing encounter with risk then survival.
