@michell62101965 Max SSI is $794 (26% below poverty level). There are all kinds of ways they can slash it, esp. if anyone is paying for or providing cheap/free housing, utilities, food.
They don't care how you cover medical, toiletries, transportation, phone, etc.

In 1989 the resource limits were set:
$2000 for individuals
$3000 for couples (why not 4000?)
Not tied to inflation so they haven't changed since.
In 2021 money that would be $4,341.85 and

@StynaLane That $2000 limit was a fixed amount set in the 80s which would be ~ $5400 in today's money.
It's not just bank accounts. It's life insurance, burial plots, jewelry.
The COLA is 1-2% per yr but the $2000 limit doesn't increase w. it.

On oh so many levels, the laws which limit the rights of persons with disabilities to marry, form families, and condemn them to live in poverty, are completely in need of being brought into the modern age.
