Earlier today, the Trump admin released proposed rules regarding governmental partnerships with faith-based orgs. https://t.co/x4HRYlDTg0 I'm deeply disappointed that it continues to seek to remove valuable protections for social service beneficiaries' religious liberties.

This is a Sunday School answer, but it’s Jesus. He showed what loving looks like - welcoming everyone from leaders of society to foreigners to tax collectors. As a Christian, I need to live like Jesus & respect everyone regardless of who they are #ReligiousFreedomChat

The biggest victory I’ve seen is how we are changing the conversation. Over the past year, progressive people of faith have been loud & clear about the importance of #ReligiousFreedom, against anti-Semitism, homophobia and anti-Muslim attacks. #ReligiousFreedomChat

Two big things: First, minority faiths are facing more and more pressure & discrimination, both from the Trump administration via policies like the #MuslimBan, and unofficially with the rise in anti-semitic and racist incidents targeting Muslims and Sikhs over the past years

Second, #ReligiousFreedom has become a euphemism for opposing equal treatment of LGBTQ folks. When people hear it now, they think of discrimination. We know that our faith does not discriminate and that true freedom means care and love for people #ReligiousFreedomChat

The biggest threat to religious freedom is many Americans’ inability to extend the right to religious beliefs they don’t like or agree with. If we are selective in our application, religious freedom will cease to protect much at all. #ReligiousFreedomChat
