For decades, successive Burmese governments and various armed groups have systematically attempted to erase the history, culture, and identity of the Rohingya community. Today, with the withdrawal of Myanmar's military forces from key areas, the Arakan Army is replacing them, continuing the same brutal policies under a different name. In Buthidaung Township alone, the AA has burned thousands of homes, massacred hundreds of innocent civilians, and forcibly displaced tens of thousands of Rohingya. As these victims flee the violence, many attempt to escape to neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Indonesia, only to be met with further hardship. The Arakan Army continues its campaign of terror through kidnappings, extortion, and systematic ethnic cleansing. What’s more alarming is the regional geopolitical involvement. The AA reportedly receives military and logistical support primarily from China and India. India's alleged strategic interest in Chittagong raises grave concerns, particularly the notion of supporting a future Rakhine-Hindu state carved out of southeastern Bangladesh. If such ambitions are true, then the cooperation between the AA and India to destabilize the Chittagong Division must be taken seriously. The idea of occupying towns may bring temporary power, but it cannot erase truth and history. Justice is not built on conquests, it is rooted in humanity, historical truth, and the dignity of all people. In the face of ongoing oppression, groups like the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) have emerged from among the victims themselves, not as aggressors, but as a resistance formed out of desperation and the need to defend a persecuted population that the world has too often ignored. Their struggle, though controversial to some, must be understood in the context of survival and the pursuit of basic rights and protection. Unlike the Arakan Army (AA), the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) has not committed crimes or acts of brutality against any ethnic groups. This distinction is crucial. While the AA has engaged in widespread atrocities, including the burning of entire villages, the mass killing of civilians, and the forceful displacement of tens of thousands of innocent Rohingya, ARSA has not carried out such heinous acts. Therefore, when assessing who poses a real threat to peace and humanity, we must be honest and just. How can we treat both groups equally when one is clearly acting as a tool of ethnic cleansing, and the other has emerged from a persecuted community seeking to defend its people? If the international community truly values justice, human rights, and peace, it must allow those who have not committed atrocities, such as ARSA, to have a voice in the fight for their people’s survival. Justice must prevail. Those who have illegally occupied towns through terror, killings, and forced displacements must be held accountable. Only through truth and justice can the Rohingya retake their ancestral lands and restore dignity to their people. We must not allow the crimes of the AA to be hidden behind the false narrative of resistance. True resistance stands with justice, not with oppression. The world must recognize who the real perpetrators are and support those who fight for human rights, not those who destroy them. We must also ensure that military and logistical support is given to those who stand on the side of justice, human rights, and peace.
