In 2019, The #YoungChildTaxCredit became one of California's most important tools to end deep child poverty. With #SB860, the YCTC can help close the racial wealth divide & ensure families can meet their basic needs.
THANK YOU @SenSusanRubio for leading this fight!♥️

Poverty is devastating for children. As a teacher, I saw the effects. #SB860 will expand the eligibility for the #YoungChildTaxCredit, helping struggling families. Thanks Senate G&F for support and grateful to sponsors @EndChildPovCA, @GSOpportunity, @UnitedWaysCA #yctc
#SB860 recognizes the hard work of unpaid caregivers and helps all parents of young children receive the benefits they deserve.
Thank you @SenSusanRubio for leading with bipartisan support to truly #MakeItForAll! #CalEITC (3/3)
We have seen it already: the federal #ChildTaxCredit was wildly effective at lifting kids out of poverty. By removing work requirements in #SB860, California moves towards more equity and ensures that the lowest-income families get help. (2/3)
We’re a little backwards:
Those who stay at home & take care of children or parents r left out of the #YoungChildTaxCredit. #SB860 will change eligibility from $1 to $0, so more families can take advantage of these tax credits.
THANK YOU @SusanRubioCA! #10BillionToFightPoverty
@SenSusanRubio @MichaelDTubbs @EndChildPovCA @UnitedWaysCA @GSOpportunity “The finding that economic support changes children’s brain development speaks to the potential role of anti-poverty policies – including the expanded child tax credits being debated in the U.S. – as investments in children’s development.” Dr. Kimberly Noble #EndPoverty #SB860
NEW FINDING: Cash support for low-income families changes their infants' brain activity. The first study from our #BabysFirstYears randomized control trial of poverty reduction is out, in @PNASnews. https://t.co/EOW7Yh2NBJ
( 🧵)
Too many children in low-income families start school already behind due to poverty itself holding them back. #SB860 expanding the eligibility of a state child tax credit is part of the solution.
