Very true about being a #SickleCell patient & being treated in a cancer center. It's not the same as being in a dedicated #SCClinic. The differences are stark, esp when you 1st transition from peds. But it never feels good @ any age to know you & your disease are not a priority.

Why are most adults treated primarily in βCancer Centersβ where stigmatization and de-prioritization is exacerbated?
We need true Sickle Cell Centers and doctors where SCD is the focus and Warriors are the priority
Amadu was originally taking 90mg of methadone & his #pain kept getting worse & his meds were going up too. With Lead NP Donna McCurry of the #SCClinic's help, he's now on only 2-3 pills daily and his pain is better & he says he is clearer too
