BREAKING: Oceanside Pier in in Oceanside, California is on fire. This is the longest pier on the West Coast of the United States at 1954 feet long. Originally constructed in 1888 at the location now known as Wisconsin Avenue, the pier was demolished by winter storms in 1890. It was subsequently reconstructed in 1893 by Melchoir Pieper at its current location on Pier View Way, which has since been the site for all subsequent piers. At the base of the pier lies the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre, a venue for numerous annual events. Nearby, the Junior Seau Beach Community Center, also referred to as the Beach Recreation Center, spans 17,000 square feet.
