St Edwards celebrated Pi Day on 14th March with all of the maths teachers and many other departments dedicating their lessons to circles. Well done to all pupils who managed to remember the digits of Pi. The current record is 100 digits!

Maths Week 2023: If you've been in school this week, you may wonder why many staff wore numerical badges. Students could complete a mathematical 'teacher treasure hunt'- solving clues and matching staff to the correct number.

In the Maths Faculty this week:
Yr 7 have been working as a team to solve the ‘square pairs’ number puzzle. Yr 8 have competed against each other in an online quiz on standard form. Yr 12 Further Maths students collected a sample of heights data to draw box plots.

Well done to all who entered the Junior Maths Challenge, but especially Oscar H and Denis K, who achieved silver awards and best in Yr 7, and to William G in Yr 8, who achieved a gold award and best in the school. William qualified for the next round on 14th June.

Many Year 7 and Year 8 students participated in the Junior Mathematics Challenge, which promotes the love of problem-solving. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
