Read this! It happened in Telangana
#Telangana government paid ₹1,700cr pensions to dead persons and landowners.
People who have been dead for years, car owners, landlords, and government employees were all paid Aasara pensions meant for the poor and the needy in Telangana.
According to the Comptroller and Auditor General report tabled in the Telangana assembly on Thursday, the CAG auditors identified ineligible beneficiaries getting Rs 535 crore meant for the disabled, beedi workers and single women.
The report also said that the Telangana government itself identified more than two lakh ineligible beneficiaries receiving Rs 1,175 crore but did nothing about it. Together, this amounted to Rs 1,710 crore, meant for the needy, being paid to beneficiaries who did not need it.
The report states that data from the state government’s flagship Rythu Bandhu scheme between 2018 and 2020 was compared with Aasara beneficiaries revealed that persons owning land beyond eligible limits were paid Rs 67 crore.
Rythu Bima data revealed pensions worth ₹89 lakh were irregularly paid against 367 dead persons.
16% of households found to be ineligible as per the state’s own Samagra Kutumba Survey were included as Aasara beneficiaries.
The auditors also compared the list of Aasara beneficiaries with the transport department data and found that Rs 52 crore was passed on to ineligible beneficiaries owning four-wheelers.
The report also found that 2.3 lakh beneficiaries, (around 6%) did not receive anything between April 2018 and March 2021.
Guidelines stipulated the data collected during the Samagra Kutumba Survey was to be considered as the basis for identifying the poor.
When CAG auditors cross-checked, it revealed that 19% households found to be ineligible were included as beneficiaries.
Data from the registration & stamps department revealed ₹31cr extended to persons with assets over ₹10 lakh.

As per @IncomeTaxIndia notification - @TNeGA_Official will be nodal agency and will get #PAN data in bulk for #Aadhaar numbers and will be in stored in #SFDB
