Abhängigkeit rächt sich: Ingolstadt zeigt brutal, was passiert, wenn eine Stadt wirtschaftlich zu stark an einem Konzern hängt und dieser ins Straucheln gerät. Die sinkenden Einnahmen aus dem Audi Umfeld reißen ein massives Loch in den Haushalt und zwingen die Stadt zu drastischen Sparmaßnahmen bis hin zur Schließung zentraler Einrichtungen.
Kultur als erstes Opfer: Wie so oft wird zuerst bei der Kultur gestrichen, obwohl sie ein Kernbestandteil der städtischen Identität ist. Das Theater wird geschlossen, Stellen werden abgebaut und Programme gestrichen, weil die Einnahmebasis wegbricht und kurzfristig nur noch Einsparungen zählen.
Wenn der industrielle Motor ausfällt, bricht am Ende die gesamte Stadtstruktur Stück für Stück zusammen.
