Champions League football returns to the magnificent Emirates Stadium tonight as The Mighty Gunners welcome French side Lille.
After that impressive 1-0 victory over Napoli, courtesy of our captain Martin รdegaard, Mikel Artetaโs boys will be looking to make it two wins out of two in Europe.
Lille are no pushovers, and with former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud returning to North London, thereโs an extra storyline to this encounter. ๐
The Emirates faithful will be expecting a performance, and I fancy the Gunners to deliver.
My prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Lille. ๐ฅ
Three points, a clean sheet and and we march on.

PREVIEW BY KING JAY | #SoulShackRadio Sports Desk
Aish! After what has seemed like an eternity, the international break is finally behind us, and the Mighty Gunners return to Premier League action, welcoming Leeds United to the magnificent Emirates Stadium in North London.
Gunners fans are still licking their wounds following that dreadful 3โ0 humiliation at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, 19 September. The Seagulls brought our perfect start to the Premier League campaign crashing down to earth, and the manner of that defeat was perhaps more worrying than the scoreline itself.
Three weeks to reflect on that performance, and I'm hoping Mikel Arteta and his troops have learnt a few lessons!
Now, looking at our recent record against Leeds United, one would be forgiven for thinking this afternoon's encounter is a foregone conclusion.
The statistics certainly favour Arsenal. Five consecutive Premier League victories against Leeds, 16 goals scored and only 3 conceded. That's quite some dominance!
But I'm not allowing those statistics to lull me into a false sense of security. ๐
Leeds United have started this campaign impressively.
They arrive at the Emirates unbeaten in the Premier League and sitting fifth in the table. Clearly, they're doing something right.
They look well organised, energetic and dangerous, particularly when transitioning from defence to attack.
They press aggressively, compete for second balls and are capable of punishing opponents who become careless in possession.
This could potentially be another of those banana skins for the Mighty Gunners.
And boy, can Arteta sometimes get it wrong against teams like Leeds, Brighton and Wolves!
I don't know why, but there are occasions when our manager appears to overcomplicate things against opponents we should ordinarily be putting to the sword.
Aish, Mikel! Sometimes simplicity is all that's required! ๐
Against Brighton, we were second best in midfield, struggled to win individual battles and allowed the opposition far too much freedom to dictate proceedings.
We simply cannot afford a repeat of that performance this afternoon.
Arsenal will probably enjoy the lion's share of possession, but possession alone doesn't win football matches.
We need quicker movement of the ball, intelligent runs behind the Leeds defence and, above all, clinical finishing.
I'm particularly concerned about how we deal with Leeds on the counterattack.
When our full-backs push forward, we sometimes leave ourselves exposed, and a well-organised side can exploit those spaces.
The midfield battle will be crucial. We need to win those second balls, control the tempo and prevent Leeds from settling into their rhythm.
Then there's the small matter of returning from an international break. Players have been scattered across the globe, representing their respective countries, playing different systems and accumulating varying degrees of fatigue.
Getting everyone back into the Arsenal groove quickly will be another challenge for Arteta.
I'd love to see us come flying out of the blocks, impose ourselves early and get the Emirates crowd roaring. An early goal would certainly settle a few nerves, including mine! ๐
At this stage of the season, we cannot afford to be dropping points at home, especially after what happened at Brighton.
Another defeat would leave us with plenty of ground to recover, and with the Premier League becoming increasingly competitive, chasing lost points is a dangerous game.
I'm therefore lowering my expectations slightly for this encounter. @LUFC are no pushovers, and their unbeaten start should serve as sufficient warning to anyone expecting an easy afternoon.
MY PREDICTION: ARSENAL 2โ1 LEEDS UNITED.
COME ON YOU GUNNERS! ๐ดโช

๐ฟ๐ผ WARRIORS LEFT WITH THE BITTER TASTE OF CONGO DUST! ๐จ๐ฉ
Eishhh! That one hurts.
After the drama and heroics of that 3โ2 comeback against Sierra Leone, the Warriors were brought back down to earth at the National Sports Stadium last night.
Zimbabwe 1โ2 DR Congo.
And frankly, we gifted them too much.
The statistics tell an interesting story. Possession was almost dead even, 49.2% Zimbabwe to 50.8% DR Congo, while both sides had 13 shots.
But then you look inside the penalty areas.
DR Congo had 26 touches in our box. Zimbabwe had 16.
That's where the game was lost.
THE FIRST GOALโฆ AAGHHH! ๐ฉ
30 minutes.
A cross comes in, Elvis Chipezeze fails to hold it, the ball spills loose and Yoane Wissa is there to punish us, Go Bhora! ๐ฉ
That's the sort of mistake you simply cannot afford against a team with a striker of Wissa's quality.
And yes, from now on, I may have to stick with my nickname for Chipezeze,
Butterhands. ๐ง
Because that was one very expensive spill.
Wissa wasn't finished either.
Just before half-time, 45+2, he turns provider, setting up Samuel Moutoussamy, who finishes inside the box.
0โ2.
Game suddenly looking very long for the Warriors.
This is where I think we need to have a serious conversation about Marvelous Nakamba.
The captain has plenty of experience and I respect what he has brought to Zimbabwe football, but last night we needed more control and authority in that midfield.
DR Congo were getting through our lines too easily at times, and the Warriors looked vulnerable whenever the Leopards increased the pressure.
Nakamba was even booked into the referee's notebook early in the match after a foul on N. Sadiki.
Midfield.
This is where I think we should have a serious conversation about Marvelous Nakamba .
In my pre-match review before the Sierra Leone game I was blasted by some Nakamba fans for simply demanding more from the captain, so once again I am not scapegoating one player.
It's about asking whether our midfield is giving this Warriors side what it needs at this level.
SECOND HALF
To their credit, the Warriors came out fighting.
The stats show six shots on target for Zimbabwe compared with four for DR Congo, and Matthieu Epolo had to make five saves for the visitors.
Zimbabwe kept knocking.
Wissa hit the woodwork for Congo just after the hour, while the Leopards continued to threaten on the break.
Then finally, 90+3.
A scramble in the Congolese box.
MARSHALL MUNETSI!
1โ2.
Suddenly we remembered the Sierra Leone game.
Comeback mode activated.
But this time there was no second miracle.
The Leopards held on.
THE BOTTOM LINE
The Warriors weren't completely outplayed. The numbers don't say that.
13 shots apiece. Almost 50/50 possession.
But football isn't won by having pretty numbers on the stat sheet. Ma stats haana kana basa when your team loses.
DR Congo were more ruthless when it mattered, especially inside the box, and Wissa was the difference.
For me, the big questions coming out of this one are simple:
Can we stop gifting soft goals?
Can we get more authority from midfield?
And can Butterhands keep those gloves on the ball? FFS!
Munetsi once again showed that fighting spirit with his third goal in two games.
But this time, the Warriors ran out of road.
Zimbabwe 1โ2 DR Congo.
A bitter taste indeed.
Congo Dust.

ZIMBABWE ๐ฟ๐ผ v DR CONGO ๐จ๐ฉโจAFCON 2027 QUALIFIERS | GROUP E, MATCHDAY 2โจNational Sports Stadium, HarareโจMonday 28 September 2026โจ18:00 CAT.
THE WARRIORS ARE BACK HOME! ๐ฅ
After that mad comeback against Sierra Leone, the Warriors return tomorrow for what, on paper, is a completely different ball game. Excuse the pun. ๐
Zimbabwe went 2โ0 down against Sierra Leone in Morocco before Marshall Munetsi decided he wasn't having any of it. His brace, either side of Tawanda Chirewa's equaliser, completed a remarkable 3โ2 comeback and put the Warriors second in Group E on goal difference, level on three points with DR Congo.
But tomorrow we face the Leopards. And these boys are serious business.
DR Congo come into this one fresh from a 2โ0 victory over Equatorial Guinea and they are carrying some serious World Cup pedigree.
They qualified for the 2026 World Cup after beating Jamaica 1โ0 after extra time in the intercontinental playoff, ending a 52-year wait for a place at football's biggest party.
And they didn't go to the World Cup just to make up the numbers.
They drew 1โ1 with Portugal, lost narrowly 1โ0 to Colombia, then beat Uzbekistan 3โ1 to reach the knockout stages. They eventually lost 2โ1 to England in the Round of 32.
That squad has players who have been operating at a serious level, including Yoane Wissa, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Chancel Mbemba and Axel Tuanzebe. These are World Cup players. No room for holiday football tomorrow. ๐
And this is where I have a little concern about our Warriors.
Against Sierra Leone, that first half was worrying. We looked all over the place defensively and conceded twice. Elvis Chipezeze, to put it mildly, didn't exactly cover himself in glory on those goals. ๐ Even The Herald @HeraldZimbabwe described both goals as soft and Chipezeze as culpable.
Thankfully, the second half was a completely different Zimbabwe.
But we cannot keep giving good teams a two-goal head start and expect Marshall Munetsi to come riding to the rescue every time. ๐
Against this DRC side, that could be a very dangerous game to play.
Our defence needs to be switched on from the first whistle. No sleeping, hazvidi hopรฉ , no bvundaring. no gifting chances.
Then there is Marvelous Nakamba. @Nakamba_11
I'll be honest, I had my doubts when I saw his name in the starting XI against Sierra Leone.
My doubts go back to that painful AFCON 2025 night against South Africa when, with Zimbabwe having fought back to 2โ2, Nakamba was penalised for a handball after a VAR review.
Appollis converted the resulting penalty and we lost 3โ2.
So yes, I was watching him closely against Sierra Leone.
And I'll give the man his flowers.
Nakamba had a decent game.
The ball distribution was vintage Nakamba at times and, in my books, he partially redeemed himself.
Now I want consistency.
Because against a DRC midfield packed with quality, we are going to need the experienced Nakamba, not the Nakamba who gives us an Arsenal-induced blood pressure moment. ๐๐
The Warriors have already shown that they can fight back.
They've shown character.
They've shown that they can score goals.
Now I want to see discipline.
If we concede early again and start chasing the game against a side containing World Cup-level players, we could find ourselves in serious trouble.
Personally, I'm treating this game with a LOT of caution.
Three points would be massive.
But if the Warriors grind out a draw against this DRC side, I'll take that result, thank you very much. ๐
After five years of playing our "home" games away from home, tomorrow the Warriors finally walk out at the National Sports Stadium in Harare. ๐ฟ๐ผ

The legendary Stevie Wonder has nine children with five different women. Yes, NINE! ๐คฃ
Stevie has been married three times. His first wife was the late Syreeta Wright, but they did not have children together.
His first child, Aisha Morris, was born on 2 February 1975 to Yolanda Simmons, whom Stevie met when she applied for a job as a secretary at his publishing company.
Aisha became a huge part of Stevieโs life and music, and she was the inspiration behind that beautiful classic, โIsnโt She Lovely?โ
Stevie and Yolanda later had a son, Keita, in 1977.
Then came Mumtaz Morris, born in 1983 to Melody McCulley.
Stevie also has a daughter, Sophia, and a son, Kwame, with a woman whose identity has not been publicly disclosed.
With his second wife, Kai Millard Morris, Stevie had two sons, Kailand and Mandla. Kailand followed Dad into music and has occasionally joined him on stage as a drummer.
Mandla Kadjay Carl Stevland Morris was born on 13 May 2005, which just happened to be his fatherโs 55th birthday. ๐๐ถ
Stevieโs third wife, Tomeeka Robyn Bracy, is the mother of his final two children.
Their daughter Zaiah was born in December 2014, followed by their daughter Nia, Stevieโs ninth child.
Nine children,five mothers,three marriages.
And somewhere in the middle of all that, Stevie Wonder still found the time to give us some of the greatest music ever recorded. ๐๐ถ

FULL TIME! WHAT. A. COMEBACK! ๐ญ๐๐ฅ #SoulShackRadio SPORTS DESK โ๐ฝ
I watched this one ,although the commentary was in Arabic. I couldnโt understand a word they were saying, but honestly, I was enjoying the dramatic delivery so much I didnโt even care. ๐๐๐
At 2โ0 down I was feeling low. Very low. I was already preparing myself for the usual Warriors emotional damage. ๐คฃ
Then Marshall Munetsi happened.
A second-half double from Munetsi, either side of Tawanda Chirewaโs equaliser, turned the whole game on its head. From 2โ0 down to 3-2 winners away from home. THAT is a comeback. ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Munetsi first pulled one back in the 72nd minute, Chirewa levelled four minutes later and then Munetsi popped up again in the 88th minute to complete the turnaround. What a finish!
But there is something I was wondering about during the game.
Why were we playing in Morocco?
Turns out it wasnโt Zimbabwe this time. Sierra Leone are currently using Morocco for their home matches because they donโt have a CAF-certified stadium.
Weโve been there, done that, got the T-Shirt ๐๐๐, but this is where things have changed for us Warriors.
Zimbabweโs National Sports Stadium was given CAF Category 3 approval last month, meaning it can now host AFCON and FIFA World Cup qualifiers, subject to the competition requirements.
That brings an end to the five-year exile from playing international football at home.
So when the Warriors play their next home qualifier against DRC on 28 September, they will actually be HOME.

SUNDERLAND V ARSENAL | STADIUM OF LIGHT
Kick-off: 20:00 UK | 21:00 Zimbabwe ๐ฟ๐ผ
#SoulShackRadio Sports Desk by King Jay โ๐ฝ
Now this one is tricky for The Mighty Gunners.
With Chelsea out of the way, this could easily be one of our toughest tests of the campaign so far. Sunderland @SunderlandAFC have already shown that they are no pushovers at the Stadium of Light, and @Arsenal will remember very well what happened here last season.
The two sides played out a thrilling 2-2 draw last November, with Sunderland snatching a point through Brian Brobbey's stoppage-time equaliser after Arsenal had turned the game around through Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard.
Arsenal did get their revenge at the Emirates, winning the return fixture 3-0, but tonight is another test altogether.
My biggest concern remains up front.
We saw it again in Naples on Wednesday. Arsenal created enough chances to have put Napoli away comfortably, yet we somehow walked away with a 1-0 victory courtesy of another beauty from our captain, Martin รdegaard.
The numbers tell the story. Arsenal had 26 shots, eight on target and five big chances, but only scored once. Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino both passed up excellent opportunities, while Viktor Gyรถkeres struggled to make much of an impact.
And speaking of our captain...
รdegaard is cooking on gas๐ฅ
Four goals in his last five games and another outstanding performance in Naples. His confidence appears to be back, and Iโm hoping he carries that form into the Stadium of Light tonight.
Gyรถkeres, though, needs to find his shooting boots. Against Napoli he didn't register a single shot, and Arsenal simply cannot keep creating opportunities without eventually putting teams to the sword.
There is one advantage Sunderland have tonight. They have had an extra day's recovery after their 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Hull City @HullCity on Tuesday, while Arsenal were in Naples on Wednesday. But looking at the quality and depth in our squad, I still fancy Arteta to have enough ammunition on the bench if legs start getting heavy.
And let's remember, Sunderland haven't beaten Arsenal at the Stadium of Light since 2012. Arsenal have also started this league campaign with three wins from three, while Sunderland have four points from their opening three games.
This has all the ingredients of one of those exciting Premier League nights, especially with that Stadium of Light crowd behind Sunderland.
I expect Arsenal to control large spells of the game, but I don't expect this to be comfortable.
My prediction: Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal.
Nerve-wracking. Scrappy. Possibly a few words directed at the television. ๐
But three points coming back to North London.
Come on you Gunners! ๐ดโช๏ธ

Sorry @FlyAirZimbabwe, itโs me againโฆ your greatest cheerleader. ๐๐
Real friends tell each other the truth, and I genuinely believe we seriously need to sit down and have a conversation about revamping the meals served on our national airline.
After my earlier post about the sadza and #HighFiridzi dish, I now have another issue.
Breakfast! ๐ฉ๐
Surely, we can do better than this.
Letโs start with those sausages. At least give them a bit of colour! Brown them nicely, give them that gloss, that caramelised finish which makes food appealing to the eye.
As our Chef de Cuisine at @TeamFuloZim, @Vie_matongo always says:
โWe eat with our eyes first.โ
Those sausages look anaemic. ๐ญ๐ They desperately need a tan!
They look like they were cooked, frozen, then defrosted moments before take-off. Please, at least let them catch a bit of colour!
Then there are the eggs.
I had to zoom into the photograph about three times trying to establish exactly what was going on there. ๐๐
Are they poached? Fried? One appears slightly underdone while the other looks like it had a completely different experience in the kitchen.
Consistency, please. If you're serving two eggs on the same plate, surely they should look like they came from the same kitchen and were cooked by the same chef! ๐ญ
Now, tucked away in the corner, I think I can see bacon.
If that is indeed bacon, then my goodnessโฆ that thing has been through the fire! ๐๐
I like my bacon crunchy, but not cremated. That looks dry and brittle enough to snap in half before the passenger has even opened the foil container.
Personally, I would substitute the back bacon with streaky bacon. It gives you that lovely colour, the perfect crunch and, when done properly, finishes a breakfast beautifully.
Then there is that mysterious dollop next to the baconโฆ
I tried to identify it.
I failed.
So Iโm leaving that one alone. ๐๐๐
Now, as Chairman of @TeamFuloZim, Iโm going to put my money where my mouth is.
I will ask our Chef, Vie Matongo, together with @Lialarsen to prepare the two meals we have been talking about and package them in exactly the same type of containers.
I donโt simply want to criticise, letโs find solutions together.
Hold tight while the ladies do their thing, and we will post their takes right here.
Because at the end of the day, presentation matters, just the same taste.
And passengers matter.
Mbombela passengers are just as important as Business Class passengers. Musadaro! ๐๐
Come on @FlyAirZimbabwe, Iโm still your cheerleaderโฆ Pachedu.

Ha! @FlyAirZimbabwe ,cโmon maaan? You can do a better dassa than that jaja djulo . Are you into brick moulding now? #zvidhinha
I am one of your biggest cheerleaders, donโt you dare do this to me! Please revisit your kitchen,I will be back on your timeline in exactly 2 weeks from today and I expect a huge improvement in this department.
Rating: 4/10 @TeamFuloZim

โฝ๏ธ MATCHDAY!
Arsenal ๐ Chelsea
#SoulShackRadio Sports Desk by King Jay โ๐ฝ
The battle we have been waiting for is almost here as the Mighty Gunners host our bitter London rivals Chelsea at the magnificent Emirates Stadium in North London.
This derby has all the ingredients of a proper blood, sweat and tears battle between Artetaโs boys and Xabi Alonsoโs new Chelsea ensemble. Both sides have won their opening two Premier League games, so somebodyโs perfect start is under serious threat this afternoon.
But there is a fascinating little backstory behind the two men occupying the dugouts.
Mikel Arteta and Xabi Alonso are no strangers. The two literally grew up together in San Sebastiรกn in Spainโs Basque Country and came through the same amateur youth setup, Antiguoko.
According to the story, when they were around 11 years old, they reached a cup final together. Alonso, nerves and all, missed his penalty in the shootout ,only for his childhood mate Arteta to step up and score the winning kick a few minutes later.
From skateboards, beaches, tennis and football in San Sebastiรกn, these two old friends now find themselves standing a few metres apart in one of the biggest London derbies of the season.
Arteta has already made it clear that there will be a hug and a handshake for his old pal before kick-off.
After that, the friendship will be suspended for 90 minutes! ๐
Chelsea certainly look rejuvenated since Alonsoโs arrival. Their front three of Joรฃo Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers has hit the ground running, with all three scoring in the opening game against Fulham.
Joรฃo Pedro has two Premier League goals already, Palmer also has two, while Morgan Rogers has one goal and has been heavily involved creatively. That Joรฃo Pedro/Morgan Rogers combination ,JP Morgan, as they are now called is going to need some serious attention from the Arsenal defence!
Chelsea have scored seven goals in two league games, which tells you exactly where their danger lies.
BUT...
Their defence has also conceded five goals in those same two games.
That porous defence could be their undoing against a fired-up Arsenal side. You cannot keep conceding at that rate and expect to walk into the Emirates and leave without being punished.
As for my beloved Arsenal, I am hoping Viktor Gyรถkeres gets the nod today, although I have my doubts.
Whatever โbeefโ Arteta has with Gyรถkeres needs to be properly seared, seasoned and eaten before kick-off because, in my humble opinion, our frontline is looking a little light!
And donโt even get me started on the decision to sell Gabriel Martinelli. That one still boggles the mind.
Today is about making a statement.
Arsenal are the champions, and champions do not simply roll over, surrender the title and hand the keys to somebody else without a proper fight.
Chelsea will come with confidence, theyโll will come with goals in them.
They will come with Xabi Alonso.
But this is THE EMIRATES.
And today, I am backing the Mighty Gunners to remind everybody exactly who they are!
๐ดโช๏ธ MY PREDICTION:
ARSENAL 3๏ธโฃ โ 1๏ธโฃ CHELSEA
A statement victory.

Dolly Parton Dies.
No-one did it like Dolly. โค๏ธ๐ถ
Growing up in Zimbabwe, Dolly Parton was one of those artists whose music somehow crossed every demographic.
Her songs formed part of the soundtrack of many of our childhoods. You'd hear Dolly playing loudly in my former hoods of Sunningdale, Ardbennie and Highfields, drifting out of houses and into the streets. You didn't have to be a country music fan. Dolly just seemed to find her way into everybody's music collection.
I'm not a huge fan of country music myself, but even I somehow ended up with one or two of her albums on cassette and vinyl. Jolene was always one that stood out for me.
And the elders in my community, particularly the women, absolutely loved Dolly. They knew her songs, sang along to them and, judging by the volume coming from some of those houses, weren't keeping their appreciation to themselves! ๐
That's what made Dolly special. Her music travelled.
From humble beginnings in Tennessee, one of 12 children, she became one of the most recognisable and beloved figures in music. The big hair, the flamboyant outfits and that larger-than-life personality were pure Dolly, but underneath it all was an extraordinary songwriter.
I particularly liked,Jolene, Coat of Many Colors and ofcourse the timeless,I Will Always Love You ,which was covered beautifully by Whitney Houston.
Songs about love, heartbreak, family, hardship and life itself. Songs that could travel from Tennessee to Zimbabwe and still make perfect sense.
That's some kind of musical magic.
And now, after 80 years on this earth and a lifetime of giving us music, the curtain has come down on one of the genuine originals.
Rest in Peace, Dolly Parton. โค๏ธ
No-one did it like Dolly.
