Q: Is it fair to say that in "the (D)LD world" - 'phonology' refers to a cognitive creature, whereas in "the SSD world" - 'phonology' refers to patterns observed in speech output? #SSDDLD

@mc_clausen talking about issues of diagnosis of DLD in Denmark, SLPs know that a child has DLD using terms like language difficulties. Sounds very familiar! We all need clear diagnostic guidelines and pathways. #SSDDLD @IALP_Global

A question re the label “DLD-Phonology”: Does it necessarily involve expressive phonological difficulties? Isn’t it a label that fits children who have attested phon _processing_ difficulties, that contribute to their (D)LD?
Should we use the term ‘DLD with phonology’ or use both terms #DLD and #SSD in children where these co-occur? We need to avoid hierarchies and acknowledge that both could impact on the child equally @DrHelenSLT #SSDDLD @IALP_Global
