If Meitei are considered advanced just because of the few elite groups, then there are the same elite groups in Tribals who are equally and even more advanced in their stature. Let's not forget the underprivileged Meiteis not just the far flung corner of Manipur, but even in Imphal, if they are not eligible for ST, then no other Tribals of Manipur are eligible for ST. Will the advance tribe stand up and give up their quota? Let's be fair, remove ST and reservation all together then 🤔.
We often heard - "Meitei has General, SC and OBC" 🤣, "Strela Luwang is Miss India 2nd Runner up and she is a Meitei". Seriously, we are dealing with this kind of arguments 🤦♀️.
General is not a reservation for Meitei. Anyone including Tribal can apply under General 😁. Hardly ~10% Meiteis are SC. The #Dalit communities of India who have been supporting Kuki, didn't even know Schedule Caste Meiteis exist 🤦♀️ and they are the victims of #KukiAtrocities.
NO ONE IS TRYING TO GRAB ANYONE'S LAND. How can ST allow you to start buying land in the Hills. The Hills are off limits for anyone to buy. You cannot just expand your villages to hills on your whim. If the concern is that the government is exploiting the Hills, the concern is equally for the Meiteis. Because we breathe the same air, drink the same water, it affects us all.
🎯 Meitei has all the attributes the other tribes have, then why not ST for Meiteis?
🎯 Meitei barely 0.1% of the National Population and Meitei Indigenous have every right to protect our ancestral homeland.
