Is it weird that people "speak" into the earpiece of their phones instead of the mic! I've seen no less than 10 ppl in the past few hours than I've seen otherwise.

@veorq I have heard about this issue: the part that’s broken is the C2PRI combiner, which fails catastrophically whenever a cutesy spaceship is used as a label. #strangebuttrue

New injury report for Bucs shows not only Jacob Parrish still out for personal reasons but Benjamin Morrison limited by a quad injury. Full participation today is a good sign for Josiah Trotter.

The shoebill stork looks less like a modern bird… and more like something that survived from the age of dinosaurs.
It stands about 1.5 metres tall, grey and motionless, with a wingspan of up to 2.6 metres. Its defining feature is its bill — a massive, hooked structure shaped like a Dutch clog, measuring up to 24 centimetres long and 10 centimetres wide, perfectly designed for gripping large, slippery prey.
The shoebill hunts by standing absolutely still. It can remain motionless for hours, watching the water’s surface. Then, the moment a lungfish, catfish, Nile monitor, or water snake comes within range, it launches forward in an explosive strike so fast that the bird often loses its footing and has to steady itself afterward.
The technique is called collapsing. The bird throws its entire body forward, wings spread for balance, as its bill slams into the water. A direct strike on a large lungfish can leave it partially submerged. It then stands back up, shakes away the vegetation caught during the attack, and spends several minutes repositioning its prey before swallowing it headfirst.
The shoebill is ancient. Its closest living relatives are pelicans and herons, and fossil evidence suggests their lineage stretches back tens of millions of years. Its unblinking yellow eyes and enormous bill give it the unsettling expression of a creature that simply does not care you’re there.
Shoebills communicate through rapid bill-clattering, a machine-gun-like sound produced by snapping the upper and lower mandibles together. Apart from that, they are almost completely silent.
Unlike many large wild birds, shoebills tolerate human presence surprisingly well. Yet people who encounter one in the wild often describe the experience as deeply unsettling… as though they’re standing face-to-face with something that belongs to another era.
This is the shoebill stork…
One of the closest things alive today to a creature from another age.

@Mr_Husky1 Compassion is easiest when it’s convenient. It matters most when it isn’t.
Whether it’s a person or an animal in distress, choosing empathy over indifference says a lot about character.

On December 22, 1938, a South African museum curator named Marjorie Courtenay-Latimer visited the docks in East London, South Africa, as she regularly did, looking for interesting specimens among the day's catch.
One fish stopped her cold.
It was large, blue, and had thick, fleshy, limb-like fins. She had never seen anything like it.

@arojinle1 Nature is protected more seriously in some countries than many people realize.
Destroying the habitat of protected wildlife can carry severe penalties.
