Another powerful letter asking UNCG administration to reconsider program closures, this one from the Rabi Professor of Physics at Columbia, William Zajc #savetheg
"UNCG will eventually recover from its budget problems, but it will not recover from such shortsighted and damaging actions of the administration." #savetheg
I feel like this is common refrain in academia, including UNCG. #savetheG
"The people who got us into this mess are not facing any consequences. It would be one thing if we were fired because we were terrible at our jobs… but we’ve all been good at our jobs. Hell yeah, I’m angry."
A reel summarizing the numerous ways UNCG faculty have tried to work with administration, adapting our approach when criticized, every time dismissed and admonished with false overtures of willingness to "collaborate." Please watch: https://t.co/P6qIucXfaF #savetheg
The General Faculty has voted, and the resolution of no confidence in Provost Storrs has passed. Full text of the resolution ⬇️ #savetheg

Admin has been dismissive of past votes/resolutions critical of APR process: "noisy few" narrative, "not representative of all faculty." Comparing UNCG's response to no confidence votes to NC State Chancellor's:
"How the administrators of boards react to that says a lot about them, but you never see that if people don’t take action.” #savetheg
There is no plan for UNCG beyond these cuts than just making further cuts. Austerity and fear are not a vision for a university but are reactive measures that will accelerate UNCG into a downward spiral. #savetheg
To date, the programs to be cut have still not been given any justification for their elimination. They are being asked to submit their own program-ending forms and fill in the "reason for discontinuation" themselves, despite never having been told why. #savetheg
"...the administration’s decision is closing out a 150-year era of training the next generation of physicists and astronomers." #savetheg
"I have since verified this and find I am embarrassed for you, for Provost Storrs, for the institution. I already know a group of donors who had been considering a major gift to the humanities at UNCG who have decided not to give at this point, because of
this decision" #savetheg
"...these decisions are not only devastating to your own students and faculty—they also deal a terrible blow to the academic reputation of your university." #savetheg
At Wednesday's College of Arts and Sciences assembly, faculty voted to approve a resolution of no confidence in Provost Storrs. #savetheg
Thank you to Dr. Parsons for these very kind words, and the reminder that faculty do a lot more than many know. #savetheg https://t.co/Ny34jjTTy9
The APR and you: why should you care? Q&A below 👇
#savetheg
Dear UNC Board of Trustees & UNC Board of Governors,
As UNCG students, we ask that you acknowledge the impact and consequences of the APR process on students, faculty, and staff.
We have lost faith in our administration. Please step in to halt the APR and #savetheG
