Today we did a 15 mile/24 km walk from #HerneBay to #Faversham
We caught the train to Herne Bay and then walked along the #EnglandCoastPath and the #SaxonShoreWay which took us just under four and a half hours, along the coast and then up Faversham Creek to reach the harbour.

When I walked into Rye on the #SaxonShoreWay I discovered the last couple of miles along the canal was closed for maintenance, so I headed in on the main road instead. But this time I found the diversion

I walked from Hamstreet to Rye last month on the #SaxonShoreWay but this is an entirely different route down the canal.
Approximately 12 miles today from Hamstreet to Rye.

As the path has now reached the coastline again, Iβll resume from Rye once I reach here again on my main journey. Next time out, Iβll return to Capel-le-Ferne.
For the last 1 1/2 miles into Rye I had to divert onto the main road, because the path was closed for coastal defences maintenance

I was continually getting lost due to poor signage and overgrown tracks, and at one point without internet signal I only knew which direction to go thanks to the position of the sun sinking in the west.

Once I headed back inland though, things started getting tricky for the rest of the day.
Signage wasnβt great. Some paths were overgrown, and there were dozens of gates needing untying and tied back up again.
