An 'article' in Dutch about #Serbia, of course it has to be bad, as nobody ever wrote anything neutral or balanced in the Netherlands about #Serbia.
Personally I see it more as an opinion piece written by two uninformed people who has no insight in #Serbia and it's society.
Some errors I found in the article, I wrote in Dutch but auto- translated in English (sorry for the eventual errors in English):
1. “Serbia is the second most corrupt country in Europe”
That is not accurate based on the Transparency International CPI ranking referenced in the article. Serbia does indeed rank low (116th out of 182 countries), but within Europe, countries such as Belarus and Turkey—in addition to Russia—also score worse than Serbia. It is therefore factually incorrect to label Serbia as “the second most corrupt country in Europe.”
2. “Vucic sent a plane full of mafia members to Tivat”
That is an extremely serious accusation. You would expect solid evidence to back up such a claim. There have been reports of a charter flight from Serbia on which, according to Montenegrin sources, some passengers allegedly had ties to organized crime or the ruling party, but that is quite different from proving that Vucic personally “sent a plane full of mafia members.” The wording in the article goes far beyond what is evident from publicly available reports.
3. “The regime has taken over N1, Nova S, and Danas”
This, too, is presented much more definitively than the facts allow. What actually happened was that, in 2026, these media outlets came under the control of Alpac Capital through an ownership transaction. While concerns about potential political influence are a legitimate topic, the claim that “Vucic has taken them over” is not substantiated in the article. The ownership structure is more complex.
5. “Serbia is run by a drug mafia”

EU support is minimal, partly due to the negative/racist attitudes of countries such as the Netherlands, Croatia, and Germany. It makes sense that the country would also seek partnerships with other parties.
8. Serbia is a traditional ally of Russia: it is often portrayed that way, but Serbia is also an ally of France, the UK, and the U.S.—in both world wars and even during the Cold War, when Tito expelled the Russians.
The article is not a neutral analysis, but an opinion piece in which facts are deliberately omitted and the historical context is not taken into account.
